On the morning of May 27 local time, the main concrete structures (dormitories, teaching building, administrative building and equipment rooms) of China Qiyuan-aided expansion project for a technical school in Musanze, Northern Province, Rwanda, was topped out. Meanwhile, the foundation construction for five steel structure buildings including a training workshop and a multi-functional hall has also been completed, readying the project for mid-term evaluation.

Due to the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, Rwanda had suspended all commercial flights and closed its borders for more than two months. As a result, the project allowed local staff to go home and implemented closed management. While strictly implementing epidemic prevention measures, the project team of China Qiyuan Engineering Corporation actively coordinated and utilized limited human and material resources to advance the project in a phased and steady manner. Overcoming the challenges posed by the pandemic, the main structures of the project had been completed and ready for mid-term evaluation.

Speaking on the progress, quality and expectations of the project, Emile Abayisenga, principal of the recipient school and chairman of Musanze district council, told the site management team, “You guys do amazing work and I've been following the project.”
