As the first China-aided royal tomb project, the renovation is located in downtown Nuku'alofa, the capital of Tonga. Construction includes ancillary facilities for the tombs (accommodation for the Crown Prince and storage), new burial chambers, funerary passages and outdoor works. Since its official commencement on February 28, 2024, CQEC proactively coordinated with Tongan requirements, scientifically planned the schedule, diligently overcame challenges and ensured steady project advancement. Upon completion, the project will become a landmark in Nuku'alofa, carrying significant cultural and religious importance, as well as standing as a hallmark of economic and cultural exchange between China and Tonga.
