On December 12 local time. Yu Honghui, CEO of China Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Group (CECEP), attended and delivered a keynote speech at a side event focusing on investment and financing for climate change projects of “China Pavilion” at the UN Climate Change Conference 2019.

Yu introduced CECEP’s outstanding achievements in addressing climate change from the perspectives of policy research, think tank construction, and international cooperation. He pointed out that investment and financing for climate change related projects have played a key role in tackling climate change and promoting low-carbon development. Against the backdrop of increasing resource and environmental constraints and the low-carbon restructuring of the world, actively advocating and advancing the construction of climate investment and financing system is not only an inherent requirement for China to improve the quality and results of economic growth and achieve green, sustainable development, but also an inevitable choice to put into practice the new concept for development and promote ecological progress.

Under the guidance of the Department of Climate Change under the Ministry of Environment and Ecology, CECEP will give full play to its role as the Secretariat of the Climate Investment and Financing Commission and pool factors and resources such as funds, personnel and technology to push forward cooperation and innovation of financial institutions, research institutes and enterprises and provide references and technical support for relevant government agencies to formulate policies on climate investment and financing, Yu said.
