The 49th World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting took place from January 21 to 25 in Davos, Switzerland. Liu Dashan, chairman of China Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Group (CECEP), was invited to the event to attend the opening ceremony, the Exchange Meeting Between Chinese and Foreign Companies, “China Night,” and other activities.

On January 23, Chairman Liu Dashan attended the opening ceremony of World Economic Forum 2019 and listened to an important speech delivered by Chinese Vice-President Wang Qishan, titled “Stay Confident and Work Together for a Shared Future,” as well as keynote addresses by leaders of other countries.

On January 22, Liu participated in the Exchange Meeting Between Chinese and Foreign Companies, which was also attended and addressed by Xiao Yaqing, chairman of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC), and Klaus Schwab, founder and executive chairman of the WEF. More than 60 business leaders from around the world conducted in-depth discussions on such topics as economic globalization, China’s reform and opening-up and high-quality development. Chairman Liu also attended the “Globalization 4.0: China’s Role in the Future of Global Commerce” session co-organized by Chinese Central Television (CCTV) and the WEF, at which he shared views with executives of a number of international organizations and renowned transnational companies and expressed wishes to join hands with global partners to address challenges, seize opportunities, expand opening-up and promote integrated development.

On the sidelines of the forum, Liu gave an interview to CCTV on China’s role in the future of global commerce and the opportunities and challenges facing Chinese companies. His remarks sent a message of energy conservation from CECEP, strengthened the image of CECEP as an internationalized company, and extended its wishes of expanding international cooperation in an open and inclusive manner to achieve mutual benefits and win-win outcomes.

Themed on “Globalization 4.0: Shaping a New Architecture in the Age of the Fourth Industrial Revolution,” this year’s WEF meeting attracted some 3,000 guests, including 60-plus heads of state, government leaders and executives of important international organizations, to gather in Davos to engage in a series of high-level dialogues.
